Obituary for Patricia Ann Burkhardt

Patricia "Pat" Ann Burkhardt, 88, of Polk, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 21, 2019 after passing away in The Caring Place in Franklin, surrounded by her family.

Born on May 24, 1930 in Franklin, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Elnora (Smerker) Hartle.

Pat graduated from Sacred Heart Academy after 11th grade; she then attended Franklin High School, graduating from there in 1948.

On September 4, 1954, Patricia married Ronald Dean Burkhardt; he preceded her in death on October 23, 2017.

For around 7 years, Pat worked for Joy Manufacturing as a Stenographer, but then put her career on hold to raise her wonderful family.

Pat had a love for being outdoors, especially sitting around the fire with her family. Everyone that knew her knew how compassionate she was as the caregiver for her elderly family members. Pat also liked to play cards.

Patricia was so proud of her family. Her most fond memories will forever be the time she spent with her family as a homemaker and the time spent with her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Patricia is survived by her son, Thomas Burkhardt and his wife, Connie, of Polk; her two daughters, Debra Mook and her husband, Robert, of Polk, and Ronda Schengber and her husband, Jim, of Cincinnati, OH; her seven grandchildren, Brian Mook of Polk, Andrew Schengber of IN, Allison Schengber of OH, Lauren Burkhardt of DE, Tyler Burkhardt of DE, Brandon Burkhardt and his wife, Taylor, of Polk, and Karley Emeigh of Franklin.

She is further survived by her 2 great-grandchildren, Brayden and Colten Burkhardt; her sister, Dorothy Odle of Franklin; her brother-in-law, Robert A. Whitman of Polk; her two sisters-in-law, Evelyn "Idie" Hartle, and Cheryl Knox and her husband, Don, all of Franklin; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Patricia was preceded in death by her three brothers, Joseph, Harold, and Donald Hartle; and her two sisters, Ruth Whitman and Jeanne Watkins.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, February 24, 2019 at the Gardinier Funeral Home, Inc., 1315 Chestnut Street, Franklin, PA 16323, from 1 pm to 4 pm.

A Funeral Mass for Patricia will be held on Monday, February 25, 2019 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church, 949 Liberty Street, Franklin, PA 16323, starting at 11 am, with Monsignor John Herbein, officiating.
